About the Products in our Kahuna Arts Store

Everything you need for your Lomilomi and Kahuna Bodywork Clinic

Once you are ready to go into practice, particularly when you intend to open your own clinic, you start looking for what can create that relaxed Hawaiian feel in your reception, waiting and treatment rooms.

For that reason we have been creating a one-stop-shop providing you with everything you need.

We sourced Hawaiian print fabrics in Hawaii and are awaiting our first shipment of 4 different patterns. You can sew them up into curtains, pillow covers, wall hangings and table cloths. The following shipments will contain other prints and colours you can choose from.

The 2009 Kim Taylor Reece Hula Calendar not only provides you with a calendar for 16 months indicating all Hawaiian holidays, you can also frame the hula pictures and hang them strategically to remind you of mimicing nature's motion while you perform the massage and bodywork.

Draping should be pure cotton and pure white. Don't get tempted to use cheaper fabrics like poly cotton; it creates static electricity that would constantly discharge through you and interrupt the flow of ki energy. The white draping indicates the spirit of the pure unadulterated script of the body. And if it looks clean, it is clean, as your clients will notice.
Our draping sets come with 6 sheets and 3 face cradle covers, sufficient for 3 clients. Two sets of these would be a good start for your clinic. Tip: a face cradle cover tucked around your waist will prevent oil stains on your clothes.

As you know, Kahuna Bodywork is not done on a metal frame massage table, again because of electrical discharge. Only a timber frame is suitable. For the last 20+ years, Kahuna Arts has been improving their Kahuna massage table to todays highest standard. We have not taken any shortcuts in quality of materials. We have tested about 10 different vinyls over the years to see if we can save in costs, and always came back to ultraleather. It's luxuriously soft and remains soft even after years of heavy use. And it's soft on your arms too, it will not burn your skin or pull on your hair. We have worked out that ultraleather actually saves you money, considering it lasts years longer with our style of work. We still use our first 20 year old Kahuna Arts massage tables (they have been re-upholstered) at our school and student clinics and thus can vouch for the test in time.

Our Kahuna massage oil has the perfect gliding properties for Kahuna bodywork. All ingredients are organic wherever possible and in combination are highly therapeutic for a range of common conditions and stresses. The current batch of oil has been prepared in a special ceremony by Ki'a'i. Yours and your clients' mind and body will relax with the subtle fragrances of nature.

Books: We are patiently awaiting the shipment of Herb Kawainui Kane's 'Ancient Hawai'i'. The words and stories of Herb Kane always remind us of Kahu's stories of Ancient times, and each picture is a visionary's work of art.
E. Victoria Shook's 'Ho'oponopono' explains how ho'oponopono is still used in today's Hawai'i, and how you can apply it in your practice. It is a process that works wonders with our indigenous clients, and gives Western clients a different perspective on family and relationship dynamics.
Harry Jim's 'Wise Secrets of Aloha' is about the sacred art of lomilomi. There is advice too: Enjoy! Laugh a lot! Go easy! It shows you a path to being present, presence being the single most important state of being not only during bodywork, but in all life.
Deane Juhan's 'Job's Body - A Handbook for Bodywork' should be available in our online store in September. This book is a must for any bodyworker, that's why we are happy to be able to offer it at a great discount.

Hawaiian 'Alaea Salt is commonly used in Hawai'i with any type of food. Just replace your normal salt with 'Alaea salt for that Hawaiian feel and flavour in your kitchen. Great for marinating meats. 'Alaea is baked Hawaiian clay added to pure unrefined sea salt in a special process and is believed to be therapeutic in supplying you with extra minerals. We surely are the only place in Australia selling this salt. Try adding it to your bath water for a cleansing relaxing bath. This salt is also traditionally used for blessing, cleansing, purification and energy raising. The aloha bags are a wonderful gift of aloha, and the larger bags give you the needed volume of salt for purifications or a bath.
