What you will learn in this intensive workshop
Our workshop program has been authentically designed according to the teachings of (Kahu) Abraham Kawai’i, a native Hawaiian Kahuna and creator of Kahuna Bodywork.
During the course we will teach you the martial art based movements of Ka’aleleau, which are the foundation of Kahuna Bodywork. Kahu used Ka’aleleau or “flying” as a way of teaching ancient Hawaiian principles to a non-Hawaiian students, these are also the moves we use in bodywork. Similar in some ways to Qigong, Ka’aleleau is an ancient spiritual dance/ movement that allows us to feel and direct Ki energy as well as giving us a deeper understanding of self and our connection with all things. Learn more about Ka’aleleau here.
You will learn how these movements are applied within Kahuna Bodywork and how we work with Ki energy both within ourselves and with clients. You will learn how to move around the bodywork table in rhythm with the music, how to apply leverage, how to work with sensitivity and how to complete a full body massage including specific joint rotations. During this intensive you can also learn advanced bodywork techniques, how to apply and direct Ki energy, Hawaiian geomancy and the importance of ‘arrival’.
There will also be time for relaxation in the grounds of our beautiful property in the Mount Jerusalem National Park.
Is this workshop for me?

About Kahuna Bodywork
Kahuna Bodywork (Lomi Ka’aleleau) is a flowing and dynamic form of massage-like therapy. Kahuna Bodywork uses sensitivity and long flowing strokes to provide a space for clients to experience healing and wellbeing for themselves.
Drawing on principles and teachings from the Hawaiian martial art of Lua and Hula Kahiko, Kahuna Bodywork is more than just a massage modality, it is a way of life. Practitioners are taught to use rhythm, leverage and motion to facilitate change right down to a cellular level within the body.
Workshop outcomes
If you are new to Kahuna Bodywork you will come away able to perform a Kahuna Bodywork for relaxation, including hip and shoulder rotations. You will also gain an understanding of how the ancient principles that we draw on can positively impact your everyday life.
As a more experienced practitioner you will deepen your bodywork practice, learn advanced techniques and further your understanding of the principles and wisdom that are at the core of this teaching and the key self mastery.
You can hear what some of our students have gained from our workshops in the video.
